Techsafe seats mate. Ambulance use them. I got a double put in mine and they do singles. Works awesome. Im also trying to work a family type setup that folds into bed. Google troopygirl and see her setup, pretty awesome. Hope that helps

The 70 series Landcruiser's are a bit of enigma to me. Seems like a lot of money for not much. The Troopy does make some sense, as there's no other vehicle on the market like it, but with all the changes you're talking about, plus fitting in a kid, I can't help feel you bought the wrong rig. Maybe a 76 wagon would've been more suitable, with the 2/3 rear seat pulled out.

Hello Scotty enjoyed your excellent video, fortunately for me this has been my playground for the last 50+ years (and still is). The sandflies down there carry knives, didn't anyone tell you that 🤣. Mud, sandflies, rain, are all part and parcel of the NZ bush, but wouldn't change it for anywhere else in the world. A place where you can be isolated from the whole world. Next time you come over, take the leaves of the Kawakawa tree and rub them over your arms and legs, this will stop them biting. When I was repairing the huts on the west coast, I would mix baby oil and Dettol, and this worked without fail. ATB Cheers from the Tararua mountains, North Island. 😊😊PS always trim the toenails before you set off on a tramp, when going downhill the toes tend to slip to the front.

I have been watching you for a few weeks now. Going back to some of the older one videos. This one is by far one of my favorites! That waterfall and the creek beds are stunning. I can feel the age of the rocks and ferns and trees. I would for sure camp in that sandy spot.

hi bro, really nice video. i have a question on the bivy you use. you think one could use the alton bivy in the rain without a tarp? i know it has this next gen material with great brethability while wateproof but.. can you have it fully zipped while raining and be alright in it in a full night of raining?

What a cool, but weird vehicle! That bumper's gotta go though lol. It'll look way better with a steel one. My dream vehicle is my 4th gen 4Runner. 4.7 V8 - it's a beast - but I'm jealous of your 2.8 with today's gas prices! All that interior space you have is amazing it would be like an overlanding palace for me but I can't believe it only has 2 doors - that's ridiculous! How do they expect me to load my dogs? And the lousy cockpit to boot, I can't believe that costs $85k. But a new 4Runner probably would these days too - it's absurd. A year later it's worth half that.

33" tyres for a 2.8L will drain the power a bit. I would got 32". Also dont get mud tyres. Get all terrains and save your ears.

I am unable to get to remote tranquil places, no people, no mobile reception etc. When you're just chillin - not thinking about food (plan, catch, cook, clean) what do you think about? this is a serious question - any other remote capering type people can answer too - preferably solo as companion changes things

G'day Scotty, congrats mate and I reckon you did the right thing going for a base model to customise for your particular needs. I'm sure you're aware, you can pay so much more for unnecessary bells and whistles. No question; bullbar and winch; ...... dont forget the ability/knowledge to winch in reverse. Segway into dual battery, perhaps solar as well ? and with our network phone coverage, or lack of it, a good "CB" mostly UHF these days, and/or a sat phone. Long trips, as a fellow tall boy, .... with ya, seating comfort, + center console/armrest a high priority. Rubber to the road and rims; for sure very important, though personally I wouldn't go 'mad" pricewise, especially if you're doing a lot of highway K's and dirt tracks in "fairly" reasonable condition ; ) Suspension; maybe an upgrade there, I'd be doin a "shipload" of research on your particular vehicle, before doing anything though. Single rear seat, yep, though side door; I wouldn't, I believe that's quite a mod and ..... infants dont stay infants forever ; ) Rooftop tent, croc country for example, yeah ok ; ) but personally I dont like 'em, can be just as much mucking about to set up as a ground tent, a pain to get in and out + you lose all the storage potential up top. A side mount tent, or even just an awning, is well worth having IMO. Even though you've quite a tank there, keep in mind, ...... extra weight adds up "very" quickly. Anyway, just my two bob's worth, I'm sure whatever you end up with will be fit for your purposes, all the very best of luck with it mate. Cheers Duke.
